About the Role
Ealing Council is proud to be recognised as a Borough of Sanctuary — a place that welcomes people affected by forced migration and offers safety, inclusion, and belonging. Our borough is home to sanctuary seekers from diverse migration pathways including asylum, resettlement, Homes for Ukraine, and Hong Kong (BNO) arrivals. Each group brings unique experiences, skills, and contributions that enrich our communities and strengthen the fabric of our borough.
In 2025, Ealing Council launched the Borough of Sanctuary Strategy, co-produced with residents and the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector (VCFS). The strategy sets out a bold vision to embed the principles of welcome, inclusion, and opportunity across all council services. Supported by action plans focusing on housing, community participation, health and wellbeing, employment, and education, the strategy ensures sanctuary seekers receive coordinated and compassionate support.
As Sanctuary Coordinator (Grade 10), you will be the vital link between the council and Ealing’s vibrant VCFS, ensuring sanctuary seekers access the right support at the right time. You will act as a single point of contact for VCFS partners, manage relationships across multiple organisations, and coordinate activities such as hotel drop-ins and community hub engagement. Additionally, you will line manage three Community Workers and help maintain the Ealing Sanctuary Forum’s delivery plan.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building connections and solving problems collaboratively, combining empathy, strong communication skills, and organisation to help shape a truly inclusive borough where every sanctuary seeker feels welcome and supported.
All roles are fixed term for three years. Currently, most staff work on a hybrid basis, requiring two days per week attendance at Perceval House and three days working virtually from home, with flexibility depending on collaboration and council needs.
This post is subject to Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.
Experience
Experience working with diverse communities, particularly within voluntary, community, or public sector organisations, is desirable. Proven ability to manage partnerships and coordinate multi-agency activities is essential.
About you
You are empathetic, an excellent communicator, and highly organised. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about inclusion, community empowerment, and making a lasting difference for people seeking sanctuary. Experience or lived experience of forced migration and language skills reflecting the community are highly valued.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in community development, social work, public administration, or related fields are advantageous but not mandatory. A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning is essential.
