About the Role
As Senior Commissioning Editor, you will take responsibility for projects within a portfolio, researching and developing differentiated concepts in print and digital formats. You will oversee the commissioning of appropriate, profitable, and high-quality ELT content, ensuring projects are planned and resourced adequately. You will identify authors and contributors, working closely with the Global Market Research team, key local markets, and Global and Local Brand teams to develop strong concepts that showcase the Customer Value Proposition.
Through a matrix management structure, you will guide in-house cross-functional or freelance teams or packagers to develop quality material that meets key market needs, produced on schedule and within budget. You will also mentor and develop Commissioning Editors.
Using your deep understanding of ELT products and markets, you will collaborate with the Publisher to deliver a profitable business plan, research new publishing solutions with the Global Content and Methodologies team, and propose opportunistic products to grow the sub-segment.
Reporting to the Portfolio Publisher, you will collaborate closely with the Content Development team, Global Content and Methodologies team, Publishing Operations, Sales and Marketing, Digital Product, and Procurement stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Segment strategy and publishing planning, including business insights and market intelligence
- Concept development based on market research, creating and innovating differentiated projects
- Content development, editorial skills, project management, and balancing stakeholder needs
- Budget, financial, and resource management, ensuring projects are planned and resourced for timely delivery
- Staff management, including mentoring, training, recruitment, and supporting well-being and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives
- Personal development by staying updated on ELT/EFL issues, attending conferences, and expanding industry networks
Experience
- Knowledge of ELT markets, especially Pre-Primary and Primary segments in Spain
- Demonstrable ELT publishing experience at project leadership level with a proven track record of successful ELT/EFL product development
- Solid experience in English language teaching and appreciation for diverse international teaching and learning contexts
- Experience working with a range of new media and content management systems

Qualifications
