Springer Nature has made significant investments in research integrity, including specialist teams, advanced technologies, and collaboration with the wider research community. Clear, credible, and responsible communication is essential to reinforcing trust and confidence in the research ecosystem. Reporting to the Director of Communications, Integrity, Ethics and Editorial Policy, this role is central to that effort.

About the Role
Working within Corporate Affairs, the Senior Communications Manager will advise on and deliver high-quality communications supporting Springer Nature's position as a publisher of trusted research. This hands-on role involves proactive communications showcasing our work and impact, alongside responsive issues management in a fast-moving, high-profile environment. You will work closely with Corporate Affairs, Research Integrity Group, editorial, legal and regional teams to ensure communications are clear, consistent and robust.

Role Responsibilities
Proactive communications delivery
Deliver communications plans and campaigns showcasing Springer Nature's work on research integrity
Identify stories, draft content including press releases, blogs, statements and briefing materials
Support senior stakeholders in developing thought leadership content and external positioning
Contribute to campaigns aligned with wider Corporate Affairs priorities
Issues management
Advise on and support handling of complex or sensitive issues relating to published content and investigations
Work with legal, Research Integrity Group and editorial colleagues to ensure communications are accurate, evidence-based and risk-aware
Draft and coordinate responses to research integrity issues including media enquiries and public statements
Monitor developments and contribute to issues tracking and preparedness
Media and stakeholder engagement
Support media relations including pitching stories and responding to journalist queries
Build and maintain relationships with relevant media and stakeholders
Work closely with regional communications teams to ensure aligned global responses
Stakeholder coordination
Collaborate day-to-day with colleagues across Research Integrity Group, editorial, legal and Corporate Affairs
Ensure communications are aligned, timely and reflect agreed messaging
Provide practical communications advice on projects and announcements
Operational delivery
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to tight deadlines
Contribute to planning, reporting and evaluation of communications activity
Support team processes including monitoring, reporting and content tracking

Requirements

Experience
Strong experience in external communications, PR or corporate affairs
Proven ability to deliver high-quality written materials at pace including media materials, statements and briefings
Experience supporting issues or crisis communications
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Confident working with a range of stakeholders across a complex organisation

Qualifications
Desirable: Knowledge of academic publishing and research integrity
