About the Role
Tripadvisor is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our fast-moving Data Platform group. You will design, build, and sustain the data infrastructure that powers the world’s most trusted travel platform. This role combines strong software engineering fundamentals with deep data engineering expertise to set technical direction, architect reliable pipelines, and deliver scalable end-to-end solutions serving hundreds of millions of travelers. You will collaborate closely with Product, Analytics, Data Science, CRM, Marketing, Finance, and Machine Learning teams across Tripadvisor’s global engineering organization.

Our Data Platform team is the engineering backbone of Tripadvisor’s data ecosystem, responsible for building frameworks, infrastructure, tooling, data modeling, and best practices that ensure consistent, well-governed, high-quality data products. You will work on streaming and batch data platforms, orchestration and ETL tools, tracking instrumentation, data governance tooling, and self-service analytics capabilities.

Experience
- 8+ years of data engineering or software development experience in a commercial setting, including technical leadership on medium-to-large projects
- Proven track record of taking significant projects from design through production with growing ownership of technical direction
- Deep experience designing and implementing complex ETL/ELT pipelines with SLAs, performance measurement, and monitoring
- Comprehensive data design and modeling expertise with advanced SQL across large, complex datasets
- Extensive experience with big data technologies and cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and Hadoop/Hive at terabyte scale
- Experience building reusable frameworks, platforms, or tooling that support other engineers
- Hands-on proficiency in Python and Java for production systems
- Expertise in systems performance tuning and understanding architectural impacts on scalability and cost
- Familiarity with REST services, event queue systems, Linux, and cloud infrastructure design on AWS or equivalent
