About the Role
The Financial Times (FT) is a globally recognised news organisation known for its authority, integrity and accuracy. Our Product & Tech teams deliver cutting-edge digital products to over one million subscribers daily, driving growth through a diverse and dynamic group of specialists. We foster a supportive culture and entrepreneurial spirit, offering limitless career opportunities.

As a Senior II Engineer within Commercial Technology, you will provide technical leadership for the Marketing & Commercial Data engineering capability. You will be accountable for the technical direction, architecture, and engineering integrity of the capability, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with FT standards. You will lead architectural thinking, guide significant technical decisions, and manage technical risks and dependencies.

You will play a key role in the technical transformation of the FT’s commercial technology landscape, transitioning from established marketing platforms to Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next, Data 360, and the wider Commercial Technology ecosystem. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you will provide complementary technical leadership, remaining close to engineering delivery by solving complex problems, improving practices, and mentoring engineers.

The Commercial Technology team supports FT’s commercial capabilities across Marketing, Sales, Service, and Commercial Data, evolving platforms such as Salesforce, Bloomreach, Marketo, and others. You will collaborate with senior technical leaders to ensure coherent and sustainable technology decisions across the organisation.

Our technology stack includes Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next (Advanced Edition), Salesforce Data 360, Salesforce Sales & Service Cloud, Bloomreach, Marketo, JavaScript/TypeScript, AWS, data platforms, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, monitoring tools, Jira, and Confluence. While experience with all is not required, we value leaders who can guide teams through technology change and skill development.
