About the Role
The Senior Manager, Engineering Transformation will lead strategic initiatives to optimise Engineering’s cost base, focusing on software licensing, vendor spend, developer tooling, platform costs, cloud consumption, and broader engineering expenditure. This role collaborates across Engineering, Finance, Procurement, FinOps, Architecture, and Product teams to build and execute sustainable cost optimisation strategies that reduce run-rate costs, improve commercial outcomes, enhance licence utilisation, and strengthen financial discipline across Engineering. You will identify, structure, and accelerate transformational opportunities delivering material, measurable, and auditable savings while supporting LSEG’s technology and business strategy.

You will build and maintain Engineering’s long-term cost optimisation strategy across software, cloud, infrastructure, platforms, tooling, services, and vendor spend. Key responsibilities include identifying high-value opportunities through spend analysis, benchmarking, usage assessments, licence inventories, demand forecasts, and architectural reviews. You will establish repeatable approaches, frameworks, and governance to enable sustainable cost management across Engineering.

Additional duties involve leading strategies to optimise major software licensing portfolios, driving software asset management maturity through improved inventory, entitlement, utilisation, and compliance processes. You will identify opportunities to reduce duplicate tooling, consolidate vendors, improve licence utilisation, and eliminate under-used products. Providing commercial challenge and strategic input into major software renewals and vendor negotiations is essential. Building trusted relationships with Engineering Leadership, CTOO teams, Finance, Procurement, Architecture, and Product organisations, you will influence senior stakeholders to prioritise cost optimisation alongside resilience, performance, delivery, and innovation objectives.

LSEG is a leading global financial markets infrastructure and data provider dedicated to driving financial stability, empowering economies, and enabling customers to create sustainable growth. Joining this role offers a unique opportunity to shape Engineering’s cost transformation agenda, working directly with senior leadership and strategic partners to deliver sustainable savings and improve commercial effectiveness across a multi-hundred-million-pound engineering cost base.

Requirements

Experience
Significant experience leading technology, engineering, operational, or cost transformation initiatives within a complex enterprise environment. Demonstrable success delivering material cost savings and commercial outcomes across software, technology, or engineering organisations. Strong understanding of software licensing models, software asset management, vendor management, and technology procurement. Experience with developer tooling, cloud platforms, infrastructure services, enterprise software, and SaaS vendors. Proven commercial acumen with the ability to evaluate business cases, investment decisions, and contract economics.

About you
You are a strategic thinker with excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior leaders and drive cross-functional collaboration. You have a strong commercial mindset and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex environment. You embrace innovation and continuous improvement, with a passion for delivering measurable business impact through cost optimisation and transformation initiatives.

Qualifications
While specific qualifications are not mandated, relevant experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries is desirable. Familiarity with FinOps, TBM, Apptio, Cloudability, or similar tooling is advantageous. Experience supporting large-scale software renewals, supplier negotiations, or sourcing activities is preferred. Knowledge of cloud economics, licence optimisation, and technology portfolio rationalisation will be beneficial.
