About the Role
This Group Risk role sits within the Second Line of Defence, providing independent oversight of non-financial and strategic risks across Analytics and Commercial AI activities within Data & Analytics and the wider Group. The team supports broader D&A risk coverage, recognising the cross-cutting impact of Analytics capabilities, models and platforms across multiple businesses and risk domains. The role supports the adoption of sophisticated analytics, machine learning, predictive models and Generative AI by delivering clear, independent risk insight across the full business lifecycle. You will partner closely with Product, Analytics, Engineering, Legal, Compliance and specialist Risk teams to identify, assess and articulate risk, enabling informed decision-making and responsible innovation.
Reporting to the Director, Head of Risk – Analytics & Commercial AI, this role requires excellent judgement, strong business understanding and the ability to apply risk thinking to new technologies, particularly AI. You will engage and influence senior technical and non-technical internal partners, deliver clear and concise risk opinions, and help the business navigate evolving regulation, emerging risks and rapid technological change.
Key responsibilities include providing oversight across business-as-usual, transformation and AI-led activities, using a deep understanding of Analytics’ strategy, products, data and operating model to assess risk and control maturity, challenge issues and remediation, and identify emerging risks. You will oversee key business, technology, data and AI initiatives to ensure risks are clearly identified, managed and escalated. Through targeted reviews and deep-dives, you will deliver practical insight supporting investment decisions, product development and wider strategic outcomes, alongside clear reporting for senior leadership and governance forums.
The role involves close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Privacy and specialist Risk teams to support AI governance and approvals, while shaping AI practices as capabilities evolve. You will also track regulatory and market developments to strengthen oversight and support broader D&A risk coverage.
