About the Role
Market Supervision at LSEG is responsible for monitoring all secondary market trading on London Stock Exchange (LSE) markets, Turquoise Global Holdings Limited and Turquoise Global Holdings Europe. The purpose of monitoring is to ensure trading is orderly, efficient, and compliant with Exchange rules, while identifying activity that may indicate market abuse as outlined in the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s Code of Market Conduct and MAR.

The Market Abuse team, part of Market Supervision, contributes significantly to maintaining orderly markets by detecting and initially investigating possible market abuse offences and financial crime for potential referral to the FCA or AFM. This role focuses predominantly on identifying and analysing market abuse, while also supporting the development of the team’s data analysis capabilities. Please note this is not predominantly a coding role.

Key Responsibilities
- Identification and analysis of potential market abuse and financial crime through secondary markets
- Detailed analysis of post-trade trading on LSEG trading venues
- Supporting the team in manipulating and visualising large data sets
- Raising trading queries with members, presenting cases at team meetings, and submitting Suspicious Transaction and Order Reports (STORs) as necessary
- Identifying new and improved methods for trading data manipulation and analysis using BI tools, Excel, or in collaboration with the Quantitative Surveillance and Technology team
- Surveillance alert optimisation and development
- Maintaining and updating team documentation, including alert versions, STOR/financial crime procedures, and thresholds

Requirements

Experience
- Working with large datasets and identifying unusual trading patterns
- Introducing new tools or techniques and automating manual tasks
- Conducting trading analysis to detect market misconduct, particularly market abuse
- Awareness and some knowledge of UK/European market abuse legislation
- Knowledge of secondary markets, including equity, FICC, related derivatives, or similar
- Strong analytical and data manipulation skills

Qualifications
- Desirable knowledge of SQL, VBA, or proficiency in Python data packages
