About the Role
As a Senior Planner, you will assist the Planning Manager in developing and monitoring the programme to ensure compliance with SCS planning standards and HS2 requirements. Your role is critical in delivering a safe, efficient, and cost-effective programme that meets all required access dates, milestones, and key dates. Reporting directly to the Planning Manager, you will contribute to the development of the Asset Structure, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), calendars, and dates aligned with the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and Employer's Data Dictionary. You will help develop cost and resource loaded construction programmes during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Stage One and ensure submissions meet delivery milestones.

You will ensure the construction programme complies with Employer’s planning requirements, contract data, and works information. Your responsibilities include assessing programme risks, conducting risk analysis, and implementing mitigation measures. You will collaborate closely with functional teams such as BIM, design, estimation, and construction execution, ensuring integration of the construction programme into the BIM model.

During Stage Two, you will monitor progress, update the construction programme regularly, forecast potential issues, and propose mitigation strategies to the Project Manager. Cooperation with the Project Controls Manager, Reporting Manager, and Change Management team is essential for all programme-related matters. You will liaise with the client’s construction planning team, stakeholders, and other work packages to communicate the SCS Construction Planning approach, sharing best practices, innovation, and driving continuous improvement.

This role offers the opportunity to work on the HS2 project, the UK’s new high-speed rail network connecting major cities and driving economic growth. The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract, involving twin-bored tunnels, SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks, and site compound construction.

Experience
- Prior experience in a planning function within civil engineering projects
- Knowledge of developing and implementing Asset Structures, Planning Standards, WBS, and Planning processes in a BIM environment
- Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos
- Understanding of Safety, Environment, and Risk Management

Qualifications
- Essential: HNC/HND, degree qualified or equivalent experience in a planning-related discipline
- Desirable: APM Project Management Qualification
- Desirable: APMG International Project Planning and Control Practitioner or equivalent
- Desirable: PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)
