We are seeking a product-focused Senior Software Engineer to join our Experiences Engineering team. This full-stack role leverages Java, SQL, React, AWS, and AI tools, ideal for "T-shaped" engineers who thrive on autonomy and technical leadership. You will design, build, and maintain highly scalable distributed systems powering travel experiences for millions globally. This role involves leading technical design, translating business strategy into technical specifications, mentoring engineers, mastering AI tools for development, architecting resilient systems, and optimizing legacy code to increase team velocity.

What You’ll Do
- Lead technical design and own features end-to-end balancing security, privacy, and performance
- Collaborate with Product and Data partners to translate business goals into technical solutions
- Set standards for code quality and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
- Use AI tools strategically to plan, decompose work, and enhance monitoring and reliability
- Define operational strategies and design fault-tolerant architectures
- Simplify and consolidate legacy code to improve team efficiency

Experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience following a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, concurrent programming, and scalable backend systems in cloud environments
- Strong full-stack proficiency with at least one modern backend language (e.g., Java, C#, Go, Python) and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks
- Experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude, or Open Code
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and balance non-functional requirements with delivery speed
- Collaborative leadership skills with experience communicating technical trade-offs to non-technical partners
- Preferred experience with NoSQL databases, GraphQL, Kafka, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and building engineering-wide tools or abstractions
