We are seeking a Senior Technical Consultant to join our Intelligent Buildings team. In this role, you will act as the technical design authority for smart building consultancy services across strategy, design, construction, and operational phases. You will provide expert technical leadership in Intelligent Building systems, collaborating closely with architects, engineers, programme teams, and clients to design, specify, and deliver integrated smart building solutions that enhance the efficiency, operation, and experience of built assets.

Your responsibilities will include translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance, driving continuous improvement and innovation, shaping project approaches, developing technical requirements, evaluating vendor solutions, and embedding secure, interoperable technologies aligned with client ambitions and industry standards.

Key accountabilities include leading technical design for Intelligent Building projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate building systems throughout their lifecycle, developing and reviewing performance specifications for various intelligent building systems, conducting technical evaluations and risk assessments, providing input into digital strategies and policies, advising on cybersecurity for operational technologies, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends.

You will also support business development activities, mentor and grow the team, and ensure all project deliverables meet Arcadis’ quality standards, contributing to our reputation for excellence in sustainable and intelligent building solutions.

Experience
- Demonstrable experience providing high-value technical consulting services within Intelligent Buildings and/or Smart Building Technologies.
- Technical consulting experience across design, construction, and operational environments in multiple sectors.
- Competent in building network IT/OT architectures and protocols, operational systems integration, data infrastructure, user experience solutions, and both on-premises and cloud-based applications.
- Knowledge of converged network design, strategy, and implementation, including containerisation of OT in on-prem server/server-less technologies.
- Understanding of BMS design and integrations including Building Systems Analytics Packages.
- Demonstrable understanding of cybersecurity in OT contexts, particularly IEC 62443.
- Experience conducting technical assessments of existing assets for smart building readiness through surveys and technology evaluations.
- Creative and imaginative with the ability to identify commercial opportunities and inspire solutions across building lifecycles.
- Strong client focus with the ability to build credibility quickly and exercise sound commercial judgment.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Preferably a member of an appropriate professional body such as IMechE, IET, or CIBSE.
