About the Role

Our Water Management team is seeking a Principal Wastewater Modeller to lead the development of wastewater models and manage key project aspects. You will work closely with clients to build and expand Arcadis’s project portfolio through strategic client engagement. Collaboration, proactive problem-solving, and creative thinking are central to our approach and will be fundamental to your role.
Our Water team is at the forefront of tackling some of the UK’s most technically demanding projects and AMP8 programmes. We partner with leading water companies and contractors to deliver innovative solutions focused on flooding challenges, storm overflow pollution reduction, and network resilience, while ensuring compliance with UK regulatory requirements such as WINEP and industry best practices.
This role is ideal for a motivated and independent professional looking to advance their career while mentoring and developing others. You will take a leadership position in client engagement and management, ensuring technical deliverables meet client expectations and fostering opportunities for ongoing collaboration and growth.
Key responsibilities include delivering a range of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure modelling projects, conducting technical reviews, overseeing model build and verification, managing survey specifications, developing strategic solutions to mitigate flooding and reduce CSO spills, supporting designers at concept and detailed design stages, and enhancing technical reports and presentations.
You will resolve technical modelling challenges, ensure compliance with standards, collaborate closely with clients to explain model outputs, support junior team members, assist with bid preparation, coordinate project elements including resource allocation and quality assurance, and work alongside specialists from other disciplines to maintain project integrity. You will liaise effectively with Project Directors or Managers and clients to support project progress and foster a collaborative work environment focused on professional development.
Experience
- Advanced expertise in hydraulic modelling for wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects
- Proven experience in model quality assurance procedures
- Skilled in team and stakeholder coordination and management
- Strong report-writing skills
- Experience with InfoWorks ICM; HADES knowledge advantageous
- Competent in relevant GIS software packages
- Coding experience desirable
