About the Role
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 34,000 people across more than 30 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life by solving complex challenges together.
The Arcadis Water Optimisation team delivers AMP8 Water projects across clean and wastewater schemes within infrastructure and non-infrastructure portfolios. This strategic role will develop and implement robust planning governance, processes, and systems; integrate programme schedules; and drive continuous improvement in delivery performance.
As a Senior Planning Engineer, you will lead and mature our planning capability while providing hands-on planning leadership for major delivery across the Water sector. You will advise project teams and senior leadership on earned value management, resource requirements, programme risks, performance reporting, and outturn cost forecasting. Collaboration with portfolio leads, discipline leads, and business stakeholders will be key to optimise resource forecasting, align plans with delivery capabilities, and strengthen financial and schedule control.
You will also support tendering activities by delivering comprehensive programme inputs, resourcing strategies, and cost forecast data to improve bid accuracy and deliverability. Your leadership will be critical in enhancing predictability and enabling the successful delivery of complex resilience infrastructure programmes.
Key responsibilities include leading planning capabilities for major AMP8 water programmes, designing and embedding new planning processes and tools, owning integrated baseline programmes and schedule hierarchies, overseeing schedule health checks and earned value analysis, producing timely performance reports, maintaining portfolio-level resource forecasts, embedding planning governance and data integrity, facilitating integrated planning and risk workshops, and driving continuous improvement and digital adoption in planning and reporting.
Experience
- Significant experience in project planning and scheduling, ideally within the water sector or complex infrastructure.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of UK infrastructure delivery contexts including governance, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements.
- Proficient in planning software such as Safran, Primavera P6, and MS Project.
- Experience with project controls, cost engineering, and financial operations.
- Familiarity with different contracting environments and commercial models.
About you
Organised, commercially aware, and an excellent communicator. You thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated to drive continuous improvement and digital adoption. You are capable of providing strategic input and influencing senior leadership decisions.
Qualifications
