About the Role

Our Transport Planning team is recruiting an experienced Principal Transport Planner to manage projects and client accounts, lead teams, and support clients in delivering their objectives across London and the South East. A key focus will be developing strategic transport planning capabilities across local authorities and London Boroughs. The role also requires strong bid writing skills and the ability to secure new business opportunities.
The Transport Planning team works on some of the UK’s most high-profile, complex, and technically demanding transport and development projects. Our client portfolio includes National Highways, National Grid, Kent County Council, Surrey County Council, Homes England, HS2, national housebuilders, architects, planners, land promoters, and property developers. The breadth of Arcadis’ expertise allows the team to engage in diverse multi-disciplinary projects across Buildings, Environment, Manufacturing Technology, and Local Government sectors.
Key responsibilities include multimodal transport strategy development, future mobility strategies, business case preparation, funding bid advice, multimodal and pedestrian modelling, scheme concept and feasibility, master planning, travel demand management, sustainable and active travel inputs, planning application support, public consultation, expert witness services, local plan preparation, and operational modelling.

Experience
- Significant experience in transport planning and strategy development
- Proven ability to work within large multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong business and client development skills
- Experience managing projects and leading teams
- Demonstrated ability to produce quality bids and act as first point of contact with clients
- Experience in public consultation, transport modelling, and report writing

- Able to coach and mentor staff effectively
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable overseeing the production of technical documents
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or above, preferably in transport planning or traffic engineering
