About the Role
Due to recent success securing a number of frameworks with TfL, Costain Group is seeking a Senior Traffic Management Manager to oversee multiple schemes and frameworks. The successful candidate will support Traffic Management (TM) Managers while managing and planning all aspects related to traffic safety and control during any temporary changes or risks on the highway.

Key responsibilities include supporting the Traffic Management Lead, overseeing TM Managers, Traffic Safety Supervisors (TSSs), and Incident Support teams, and coordinating all matters relating to traffic safety and control. This involves close collaboration with procurement teams, managing road space through a digitalised TM app, and traffic management design.

The role requires implementing a quality approach to inspection and audit of Temporary Traffic Management (TTM), ensuring sufficient TSS appointments for inspections, and confirming that safe systems of work meet design standards. The Senior Traffic Management Manager will ensure Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTRO) or Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices (TTRN) are applied for and complied with.

Additional responsibilities include overall management of the traffic management supply chain, ensuring Principal Contractor’s TTM design and engineering comply with accepted minimum standards such as the Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 8, DMRB, CIS53, and relevant Raising the Bar documents. The role also focuses on managing foreseeable risks using above-the-line controls, minimizing delays and congestion, supporting emergency responders, and ensuring TSS have compliant vehicles for inspections.

The Senior Traffic Management Manager will liaise with Quantity Surveyors for TM packages, update the TM Dashboard, attend monthly Costain managers meetings, quarterly standards meetings with the supply chain, and ensure timely closure of observations with site teams.

Experience
Extensive and well-documented experience within a traffic management environment.
Good commercial awareness.
Understanding of NH / TfL procedures.
Basic understanding of Microsoft packages.
Full driving licence.
Good communication skills.

- CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (minimum)

Desirable
- (IHE) Professional Diploma at level 5 or above
- (IHE) TTM Engineering Professional Certificate (Level 4)
