About the Role
London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Social Worker to join its Children with Disabilities (0-18) Service. The post holder will be an allocated Social Worker within the Children's Team, working with children and young people aged 0-18 years. This role requires knowledge and practice in areas including Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Children Looked After (CLA), and children subject to public care proceedings or private law proceedings as directed by the Court. You will be responsible for assessment, planning, monitoring, and review functions for all allocated disabled children, young adults, and families, as well as implementing appropriate care packages to promote their welfare.

Requirements

Experience
- Casework responsibility for direct work with children and families within a statutory fieldwork setting(s).
- Experience in disabilities is advantageous.
- Experience of user consultation and participation focusing on the needs of service users and carers.

About you
- Detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation, statutory regulations, guidance, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including legislation, regulations and standards, government objectives and initiatives, and the National and Common Assessment Framework.
- Ability to build empathetic and supportive relationships with children, young people, and their families.
- Clear and direct communication skills, both verbal and written, including use of interpreters and translators when required.
- Ability to make accurate and timely case recordings.
- Ability to travel for business purposes.

Qualifications
- Recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
