About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Manager to lead the newly remodelled Young Adulthood (18-25) team within the Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism service. You will be responsible for ensuring the council meets its statutory obligations under the Care Act 2014 through a strengths-based approach that maximises opportunities for independence. You will manage a multidisciplinary team of social workers, occupational therapists, and care managers to provide person-centred, evidence-based care to young adults with eligible needs in Harrow.

This role plays a key part in embedding the Transitions Framework, ensuring transition planning begins well before a young person’s 18th birthday. You will work effectively across Adults and Children’s directorates and legal frameworks to support young adults during this critical period.

Key responsibilities include leading and supporting your team to deliver high-quality services, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to drive performance improvement, fostering reflective practice and professional development in a multi-agency context, overseeing statutory safeguarding processes and court work, improving policies and processes to enhance service delivery, and managing resources to ensure quality care that provides value for money.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience managing teams of professionals including social workers, occupational therapists, and care managers. Strong knowledge and experience working with young adults with learning disabilities, complex physical disabilities, and mental health conditions. Expertise in managing statutory safeguarding processes, Section 42 enquiries, applications to the Court of Protection, and assessments under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Experience working collaboratively with health systems, provider organisations, parents, family carers, and advocates.

About you
Excellent people and budget management skills. Commitment to empowering young adults with care and support needs to live fulfilling lives. Ability to lead professionals in a way that supports reflection, learning, legal literacy, and professional development. Strong partnership working skills across multi-agency teams including health, voluntary sector, and providers. A proactive and strengths-based approach to service delivery.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications and registrations appropriate to social care management roles are expected. Expert knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding frameworks.
