Location
London Borough of Lewisham, primarily based at Laurence House, Catford Road, London, SE6 4RU. The office is conveniently located 3-5 minutes’ walk from two local train stations, with a 15-minute train journey from London Bridge. Numerous bus routes also stop near the office. The role operates a hybrid working approach, requiring regular work both in the office and from home.

Salary
£47,367 - £49,509 per annum (Social Worker Scale Points 31-33). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.

About the Role
Make a real impact for children and families affected by parental substance misuse by joining the specialist Family Help Team within Lewisham’s innovative Family Help service. This team provides intensive, multi-disciplinary support to improve the safety and wellbeing of children. As a Social Worker, you will work directly with children, young people, and their families using relational, trauma-informed, and strength-based approaches. You will contribute to high-quality assessments and interventions, build strong multi-agency partnerships, and support families to make sustainable changes. You will also engage in reflective practice within the team to help develop innovative approaches to supporting families.

Experience
A minimum of 2 years post-qualifying Social Work practice with experience managing a frontline safeguarding caseload. Experience completing parenting assessments or other assessments of parents regarding the safety and wellbeing of children for use in the Family Proceedings Court. Familiarity with the Signs of Safety practice framework to structure assessments and interventions. Experience completing family network meetings to achieve child safety and wellbeing. Understanding of child protection processes, pre-proceedings, and giving evidence in Family Proceedings Court.

Dynamic and experienced Social Worker committed to improving outcomes for children and families affected by parental substance misuse. Able to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and engage in reflective practice to develop innovative family support approaches.

Qualifications
Must hold a social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. The post requires a minimum of 2 years post-qualification. The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
