Location
Primarily based in Kaleidoscope, Catford, 32 Rushey Green, London, SE6 4JF. This role operates a hybrid working approach requiring regular work both in the office and from home.

Hours
Full time, standard local government working hours.

Salary
£45,696 - £47,367 per annum (P01). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role unless matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale) with evidential proof.

We are seeking a senior family practitioner with extensive experience working with children and young people across a range of ages to join our Children with Complex Needs and Disabilities Family Help Team. You will be a skilled, reflective, and creative practitioner who works innovatively with children and their families to ensure they receive the right help at the right time.

In this role, you will work alongside qualified social workers supporting children with disabilities and their families who are receiving statutory services. You will case hold and work within the Child in Need framework, requiring excellent skills in family support.

Experience
Extensive experience working directly with children and families, providing targeted interventions within a statutory setting.
Experience working with children with complex needs and disabilities.
Ability to case hold and work within the Child in Need framework.
Experience producing high-quality case reports and correspondence for various audiences including other agencies and service users.

About you
Good knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and guidance governing Children’s Social Care and family support work.
Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and disability awareness.
Knowledge of how disability impacts a child’s lived experience and family dynamics.
Understanding of why families may need Family Help assistance.
Knowledge of short breaks, direct payments, and eligibility criteria for services.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to children and their parents, including use of direct work to communicate with children with disabilities.
Ability to maintain accurate records and produce good standard written documentation.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies including education, health, and voluntary sector partners.
Knowledge of the range of universal, targeted, and specialist services used by children with complex needs and disabilities.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications and experience in social care or family support work are expected.
The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
