Salary
£65,922 - £68,265 per annum (P08). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.

This is an exciting time to join the IT & Digital Services team as we strengthen our cyber security capabilities and modernise technology supporting Council services.

As IT Security Manager, you will lead the development and strengthening of our cyber security strategy and capability. You will influence how security is embedded across our technology environment, collaborating with colleagues across the Council, Shared Technology Services (STS), and other technology partners.

Your role will include shaping the cyber security strategy and improvement roadmap to keep pace with evolving technology and threats, providing security assurance for new technologies and projects, leading cyber risk governance and compliance, and coordinating responses to security incidents. You will provide trusted security advice to senior leaders, translating complex technical issues into clear business risks and practical actions, and help build a strong security culture across IT & Digital Services and the wider Council.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience as a cyber security professional with strong technical understanding combined with leadership and judgement. Experience in security strategy and governance, cyber risk management, security assurance, incident management, and compliance is essential.

Comfortable working across a large, complex organisation, building relationships with technical specialists, suppliers, and senior stakeholders. Able to challenge constructively and communicate complex security issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done through collaboration. Judgement and confidence to provide trusted advice to senior leaders. Enthusiastic about building a security culture and working with diverse teams across the organisation.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in cyber security are desirable but not explicitly stated. A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with evolving cyber security threats and technologies is expected.
