About this opportunity… We're looking to recruit an experienced Software Engineer to be part of an Award Winning Domestic Payments Lab.The Software Engineer will be responsible for delivering end-to-end engineering Payment solutions for our customers supporting our Cloud journey. Your contribution will be instrumental to our strategy of simplifying, modernising, and de-risking the Payments landscape, enabling the Bank of the Future and ultimately driving value for customers and shareholders. You'll work with a range of key stakeholders, external partners and our internal development and testing teams, to support the successful achievement of IT strategies. This is a leadership role, providing direction for our Lab engineers, blending domain knowledge, deep technical expertise and coaching cross-disciplinary feature teams to deliver high quality maintainable software. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you can identify and own design decisions, and drive their resolution. Having strong skills in software development lifecycle is essential (preferably the Agile Framework) and should be demonstrable through your experience to date. Write modular, well tested applications that remain easy to maintain as the codebase and business continues to scale. Contribute to setting the strategic direction for how applications are developed within the team. Ensure software is built in a way that is consistent with the frameworks, patterns and practices that exist across the wider engineering community. Understand and apply industry innovation, and the sharing of knowledge to provide solutions for complex business problems where no precedent may exist, and ensure the implementation of solutions where appropriate. Mentor and develop your colleagues, providing clear and constructive feedback, whilst creating opportunities for learning and growth. Also ensure applications are fast, secure and work across all manner of devices. What you'll need... Engineering practices, continuous development, integration and testing. Source code management and managing change with experience of Endevor and GitHub. Technical understanding of the following: IBM z/OS, JCL, TSO, Cobol, Connect:Direct, Java, REST API's. Experience in the Banking domain, in particular Faster Payments and BACS. Experience of Technical Guidance and Mentoring. Experience in Testing and Production support.
