About the Role
Sutton College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Tutor to deliver the Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 Diploma (NCFE CACHE). You will support learners to develop an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. The role covers all aspects of specialist support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, bilingual support, special needs support, personal development and reflective practice.

You will ensure a safe and organised learning environment, adhering to all safety guidelines, and create a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes skills development and confidence. You will engage learners using a range of teaching and learning strategies, adapt methods to suit diverse learners, assess learner progress, and provide constructive feedback to support learning and development.

The post holder will ensure high-quality delivery through quality assurance processes and contribute to the college’s growth by supporting a vibrant curriculum aimed at achieving excellent learner outcomes. Additional responsibilities include assisting with focused curriculum development, personalised employment support, and learner progression. You will help meet the college’s strategic goals, especially targeting priority groups under the Adult Skills Fund, and collaborate with the Head of Curriculum and Quality to deliver a high-quality programme aligned with learner and employer needs.

We are particularly interested in tutors who can support learners to achieve their personal and academic goals, gain the qualification and life skills within and outside the classroom, and prepare for their next steps in learning or work. A passion for teaching, strong subject and industry knowledge, and a commitment to enhancing learners’ opportunities are essential.

Requirements

Experience
- Teaching in Adult Education or Further Education Post-16 college/training environment
- Experience teaching a range of levels in the subject area
- Experience of quality improvement processes that support and develop practice

Qualifications
- An appropriate teaching qualification for the Post-16 sector (e.g. DET, Cert. Ed. or equivalent)
- A qualification in the subject specialism to at least Level 4 (e.g. HND, First Degree)
- In-depth knowledge and a minimum of 3 years’ substantial experience in the subject area
- Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) qualifications in English and Mathematics
