About the Role
This opportunity is supported by the Net Zero Careers Accelerator (NZCA), a programme connecting individuals with sustainable, long-term employment in environmental services, landscaping, and green infrastructure sectors. We are recruiting Tree Watering Operatives to support seasonal environmental works across Croydon and nearby areas. This role is ideal for those who enjoy working outdoors and want to help maintain and protect the borough’s green spaces during the summer months. You will ensure newly planted trees receive the necessary care and hydration to thrive.

This is a physically demanding outdoor role requiring work in varying weather conditions. You will be responsible for delivering water to newly planted trees along assigned routes, operating or assisting with towing water bowsers, fitting and maintaining watering bags, carrying out basic health checks on trees, and reporting any concerns. You will also use a mobile app to record completed tasks and routes, follow health and safety procedures at all times, and maintain the cleanliness and safe operation of equipment. Training will be provided for Thames Water Standpipe usage. A clean UK manual driving licence and comfort with towing a bowser are essential. Interviews may take place throughout the recruitment process.

Requirements

Experience
- Ability to tow a bowser safely
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual outdoor work
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

About you
- Good awareness of health and safety
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Familiarity with the Croydon area is beneficial but not essential
