About the Role
We are seeking a warm, reliable, and enthusiastic Activities Assistant and Driver to join our team in a varied and rewarding role, making a real difference to the lives of older people in our community. You will be responsible for safely transporting members between their homes and our community centres each morning and afternoon, assisting them on and off the bus and providing a friendly, reassuring welcome.

Once at the centre, you will work as an Activities Assistant, supporting and delivering engaging activities such as chair-based exercise sessions, discussion groups, card games, and board games. You will also support individuals in line with their care plans, which may include personal care.

Your day will start at 8:00am, collecting members from their homes, supporting them to enjoy a full day of social activities, and returning them home safely at the end of the day.

Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering safe, reliable, and welcoming transport services for older people, supporting their attendance at day services, activities, and events.
- Ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard of roadworthiness and cleanliness, liaising with management and approved vehicle agents as required.
- Assisting and supporting passengers to and from their homes in line with agreed procedures, offering reassurance and a positive journey experience.
- Supporting the delivery of a culturally specific Jewish Day Service, including participating in activities, programmes, and events.
- Working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and an enhanced quality of life for older people.
- Supporting members to plan and manage transport arrangements, including Dial-a-Ride, community transport, private hire, and public transport.

Experience
- Experience working with older and/or disabled people in a professional or personal capacity.
- Experience delivering activities in a similar social care environment.
- Experience socialising with or talking to older, disabled, or people living with dementia, in a personal or professional capacity.

About you
You are warm, reliable, and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in supporting older people to enjoy social activities and maintain independence. You are patient, compassionate, and able to provide reassurance and assistance to vulnerable individuals.

For insurance purposes, you must be over 22 years old with at least 3 years' driving experience and hold a current clean driving licence.

Qualifications
- D1 Category Driving Licence.
- Midas (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) or willingness to undertake this training.
- Midas PATS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme – passenger assistance training) or willingness to undertake this training.
