
Location
Vi and John Rubens House Nursing Home, Ilford (IG2 6JH) with an exciting opportunity to move to the new Sugar and Ronson Campus and Sugar Family Care Home (IG4 5LN) in early summer 2026.
Hours
40 hours per week on a shift basis, working 5 out of 7 days including weekends (averaging 1 weekend in 3) with occasional evening shifts for special events (averaging 1 per month). Shift patterns include:
7:00am to 3:30pm (8 hours with a 30-minute break)
8:00am to 4:30pm (8 hours with a 30-minute break)
10:00am to 6:30pm (8 hours with a 30-minute break)
Salary
£35,248 per annum
About the Role
Join our multi-award-winning organisation as a Sous Chef within the Hospitality team, delivering high-quality meals and catering services to our service users and residents. You will play a key role in creating an inviting and pleasant environment, supporting catering for numerous events and ensuring excellent customer service. You will work within a positive kitchen culture that values and supports staff, fostering strong, collaborative teams. Full training is provided for Kosher kitchen practices if you are not familiar. Core responsibilities include ensuring food quality meets agreed standards, developing innovative approaches that respect market trends, cultural requirements, and Kashrut laws, monitoring food hygiene and Health & Safety compliance, managing budgets and unit controls, leading and motivating the team, and deputising for the Chef when required.
Experience
Previous experience working in a busy kitchen environment, both independently and as part of a team. Appropriate supervisory experience is essential.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications related to Food & Hygiene or Catering Services, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3, are required to ensure the safe delivery of food services.
