About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey. This role is for a developer specializing in applied AI solutions, including knowledge agents embedded in SharePoint. It is a client-facing position supporting fee-earning projects and programmes. You will interface with the Mace project team and occasionally stakeholders from other organisations, such as joint venture partners or clients. As part of the Digital Centre of Excellence community, you will share knowledge and experience with other digital professionals, providing an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners and further develop your technical skill set.
You will work autonomously on smaller or low complexity projects or as part of a larger project team responsible for specific deliverables. Your principal responsibility is to contribute to the development of digital tools, processes, and outputs, including agentic data interfaces that support the wider project team and enable better project delivery for clients. You will follow a structured development lifecycle including requirements definition, design, development, testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, handover, and post-implementation support.
You should be able to gather basic requirements and manage your own deliverables, maintaining regular contact with direct stakeholders. Attendance at all training and sessions organised by the centre of excellence is expected, with opportunities to contribute through presentations or content aligned to your interests. You must take responsibility for keeping your knowledge of commercial AI models and tools up to date through self-directed learning and independent exploration of new tools and functionality.
Mace is an inclusive employer welcoming candidates from diverse backgrounds. Even if you do not meet all criteria, you are encouraged to apply as you may be suitable for this or other roles within the organisation.
Experience
- Designing and building AI agents or agentic workflows that retrieve, compare, reason over, and summarise enterprise content.
- Ability to design traceable outputs with citations and audit trails, explaining where AI is summarising source material versus creating new content.
- Strong hands-on capability across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Power Platform, including experience with Copilot for 365 and Copilot Studio.
- Building or integrating with document stores, structured registers, and unstructured files such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDFs, SharePoint libraries, metadata, and version histories.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals including clean code, modular design, testing, CI/CD, secure deployment, and maintainability.
- Ability to estimate cost, usage, and operational run-rate for AI solutions.
- Comfort designing model-agnostic architectures where required.
- Evidence of building solutions where explainability and adoption matter as much as technical capability.
About you
- Client-focused with a commitment to delivering quality and building long-term relationships.
- Safety conscious, championing a safe, diverse, and inclusive working environment.
- Integrity-driven, always doing the right thing and aligning with compliance obligations.
- Motivated to create opportunity for yourself and others through continuous improvement and development.
- Self-directed learner, proactive in keeping up to date with commercial AI models and tools.
- Able to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
Qualifications
Right to work in the UK is essential as sponsorship is not available. No specific formal qualifications are stated, but relevant experience and skills in AI development, Microsoft 365 ecosystem, and software engineering fundamentals are required.
