The QA and Compliance Manager is responsible for defining, embedding, and assuring quality and compliance standards across the end-to-end product lifecycle. This role ensures that all digital products and productised services are consistent, scalable, compliant, and fit for purpose, enabling repeatable delivery and protecting the organisation’s reputation, commercial performance, and regulatory obligations.

As part of a newly established Product function, you will play a critical role in shaping governance frameworks, setting quality benchmarks, and standardising delivery practices. Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and implementing a product-level QA strategy aligned to the Product Office operating model
- Establishing quality gates, acceptance criteria, and release standards across the product lifecycle
- Driving consistency across product design artefacts and delivery outputs
- Introducing scalable QA processes to support repeatable, productised offerings
- Defining and enforcing compliance frameworks covering regulatory requirements, internal governance, data, security, and risk policies
- Ensuring alignment with recognised frameworks such as ISO standards, AWS Well-Architected, and data governance principles
- Maintaining audit readiness and traceability across product decisions and outputs
- Embedding QA and compliance into all stages of the product lifecycle including ideation, delivery stages, maturity, decline, and retirement
- Defining and monitoring entry and exit criteria between lifecycle stages
- Ensuring all products meet defined non-functional requirements such as security, scalability, resilience, and performance
- Standardising QA processes, templates, compliance checklists, and control frameworks
- Implementing tooling to support automated testing, governance workflow management, audit, and reporting tracking
- Driving adoption of “quality by design” and “compliance by default” principles
- Identifying, assessing, and managing quality and compliance risks across product portfolios
- Establishing escalation frameworks and remediation processes
- Providing clear visibility to leadership on risk exposure and mitigation status
- Defining and tracking quality KPIs and metrics including defect rates, rework, audit findings, and delivery consistency
- Managing post-implementation reviews and incorporating learnings into standards
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Partnering with Product Managers, Engineering and Delivery teams, Data, Security, Risk functions, and external partners
- Acting as the central point of authority for QA and compliance within the Product Office

Success in this role will be demonstrated by the delivery of a QA and Compliance Framework aligned to the product lifecycle, standardised templates and governance artefacts, a defined non-functional requirements framework aligned to industry best practice, quality metrics dashboards, audit readiness, compliance assurance processes, and risk registers with mitigation tracking.

Experience
Proven experience in QA, compliance, or governance roles within digital, product, or technology environments. Experience operating within structured product or delivery lifecycles. Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, risk and compliance frameworks, and non-functional requirements including performance, security, and scalability.

About you
Ability to operate in newly forming or ambiguous environments, building frameworks from scratch. Strong stakeholder collaboration skills, partnering effectively with Product Managers, Engineering, Data, Security, Risk functions, and external vendors. A proactive approach to driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are mandated; however, relevant certifications or training in QA, compliance, governance, or related fields will be advantageous.
