About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. We are seeking an enthusiastic Cost Consultant with knowledge of MEP and a mix of property and infrastructure sector experience to provide full cycle cost management services for ongoing commissions and projects. You will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports, and applying value management techniques at the outset of projects. Your role will include managing, estimating, and cost planning activities, taking ownership of and presenting final cost plans, ensuring final accounts are negotiated and agreed, and representing Mace to clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages. You will handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract, identify and act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products to enhance client services. Experience
Previous experience in a cost and commercial management role within a construction consultancy is preferred but not essential. Knowledge of MEP and experience working across multiple sectors is required. Experience with JCT/NEC forms of contract is essential. Proven skills in cost planning, budgeting, and estimating. Sound knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction. Ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration. Familiarity with value engineering and life cycle costing. Understanding of industry best practices and current issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, and Carbon Reduction impacting the Public Sector. Experience with Capex vs Opex cost analysis and advice.

Qualifications
A degree in quantity surveying, cost management, or an equivalent discipline. Professional membership such as MRICS or RICS is preferred.
