About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals passionate about cost and commercial management to join us as a Cost Consultant with knowledge of MEP. This role involves providing full cycle cost management services for ongoing commissions and projects across property and infrastructure sectors.
You will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports, and applying value management techniques at the outset of projects. You will manage estimating and cost planning activities, take ownership of and present final cost plans, ensure final accounts are negotiated and agreed, and represent Mace to clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages. Additionally, you will handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract, and identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures and services provided to clients.

Experience
Previous experience in cost and commercial management within a construction consultancy is preferred but not essential. Knowledge of MEP and experience working across multiple sectors is required. Experience with JCT/NEC forms of contract is essential. Proven skills in cost planning, budgeting, estimating, and contract administration are necessary. Familiarity with contract law and contractual frameworks related to construction is expected.
Understanding of value engineering, life cycle costing, and industry best practices is important. Awareness of current issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, and Carbon Reduction impacting the Public Sector is required. Experience with Capex vs Opex cost analysis and advice is beneficial.
