About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Join our expanding Mace Advisory Centre of Excellence within Mace Consult, where our team delivers strategic advisory commissions for property and infrastructure clients globally. We are seeking candidates with strong advisory experience and particular depth in benefits management for major programmes and capital projects, ideally gained within consultancy or relevant commissions.
This role supports clients to identify and agree benefits early and implement governance, plans, and frameworks to realise and track those benefits over time. Key responsibilities include developing benefits management frameworks and realisation approaches, leading benefits identification and profiling, defining benefit owners, targets, measures, baselines, dependencies, and delivery timelines through engagement with client leadership and stakeholders.
You will integrate benefits management into business case development, programme controls, reporting, risk management, and investment decision-making. You will also support clients through all stages of benefits realisation planning and delivery.
Additional experience in adjacent areas such as organisation design, capital planning, feasibility studies, economic and financial modelling, change management, commercial advisory, and project controls is advantageous.
As part of your role, you will direct benefits management commissions, manage workshops and stakeholder engagement, develop benefits strategies and plans, design governance and assurance arrangements, and communicate complex topics clearly. You will also contribute to thought leadership and support team development within Mace Consult.
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in benefits management or business case development.
- Strong understanding of benefits management at programme and portfolio level including governance and reporting arrangements.
- Proven experience developing benefits frameworks, management plans, or realisation approaches.
- Experience leading benefits identification and definition with stakeholders, translating strategic objectives into measurable benefits and targets.
- Extensive knowledge of HM Treasury Green Book, Teal Book, UK Government investment appraisal methods, and business cases.
- Knowledge of one or more property and infrastructure sectors such as aviation, rail, roads, healthcare, nuclear, utilities, energy, central or local government.
- Skilled in research, analysis, creative idea generation, and delivering high-quality presentations and reports.
- Ability to manage multiple commissions and internal development work with flexibility and agility.
- Strong professional and collaborative capabilities in stakeholder engagement and client relationship management.
About you
- Safety-focused with a commitment to wellbeing and inclusive working environments.
- Client-focused, owning quality deliverables and building long-term relationships.
- Integrity-driven, always doing the right thing and aligning with compliance obligations.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and supporting team development.
- Open to flexible, part-time, and hybrid working arrangements where suitable.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not explicitly required; emphasis is on experience and capability.
