About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant Design Manager with experience in the Defence or Technology sectors to join the Design Project Management team within the Arcadis Places Design Practice. This role involves working closely with design teams (both internal and external) to ensure the Client’s scope is met, balancing budget, resources, and timescales. You will engage positively with Clients and stakeholders, collaborate closely with the Arcadis Project Manager, facilitate meetings and workshops, identify design and project risks throughout the project lifecycle, and coordinate design activities with procurement, planners, environmental, construction, and operations teams. Your leadership will help drive high-quality design decisions through collaboration, innovation, and creativity.
Role Accountabilities
Work alongside the Arcadis Project Manager to deliver successful outcomes for clients and Arcadis. Manage the technical delivery and integration of multi-disciplinary design projects, providing leadership and direction. Promote a culture of collaboration, challenge, innovation, and creativity across delivery teams. Utilize project management concepts, tools, and techniques effectively. Apply interpersonal and influencing skills to support project success. Manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment. Understand and address complex multi-discipline engineering challenges with effective planning and implementation of solutions.
Experience
Previous experience within the Defence and/or Technology sectors is desirable. Ideally, experience in Design Management within a Client or Consultancy environment. Knowledge and experience of BIM-led design and Autodesk suite of products. Strong focus on integration, stakeholder, and communication management skills. Awareness of programme software applications.
About you
Confident in facilitating meetings and workshops, with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Strong written English and technical report writing skills are essential. Collaborative, innovative, and able to promote a positive team culture.
Qualifications
BA/BSc/BEng or MA/MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Chartered or equivalent professional accreditation is recommended.
