About the Role
We are excited to be growing our UK Places cost management capability. Places is one of Arcadis’ core Global Business Areas, focused on creating, improving, and sustaining the built environment where people live, work, learn, and connect. Our Places GBA typically works across buildings, property, regeneration and development, cities and urban environments, mixed-use and commercial schemes, education, healthcare, public sector estates and planning, design, and project delivery. You will manage the delivery of cost management in small to medium developments or significant components of larger cost management assignments. You will be responsible for delivering scope of work in line with various controls and will have significant technical knowledge and experience in the cost and commercial management field.

The Senior Cost Consultant will take a leading role in delivering cost management services across major projects and programmes in the UK. Working within the Places Commercial Management team, the role involves regular site-based engagement (typically 2–3 days per week), close collaboration with contractors and client teams, and responsibility for ensuring consistent, accurate and high-quality commercial outcomes. You will manage several workstreams or significant elements of larger programmes, applying strong technical capability, sound professional judgement and effective stakeholder management to support successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include assisting in coaching and developing team members to share knowledge and improve service delivery, working within established financial systems and budgets to produce reports and forecasts, overseeing costing and variances to manage cost variables, delivering small to medium cost projects or significant components of larger assignments within deadlines, providing advice on risk management and compliance, presenting project risks or issues to senior managers, analysing data to provide advice and recommendations, and supporting service improvement and innovation through knowledge sharing and best practice research.

Experience
Proven skills and experience supporting technically complex projects or programmes of work typically ranging in size and scope. Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues with emerging leadership skills. Experience working closely with external stakeholders to build client relationships. Experience managing business relationships at senior-management level. Capable of leading projects from inception to completion.
