We are seeking an Associate Principal level Architect with healthcare experience to join our healthcare team. You will support the delivery of major healthcare projects and manage a range of smaller healthcare projects, working with a growing and diverse client base. You will join a highly creative, collaborative, and inclusive team committed to innovative problem solving and design excellence across sectors including Health, Education, Science, and Living.
In this role, you will coordinate design and construction phases of projects of varying size, delivering high-quality architectural solutions. You will lead elements of large and small projects independently while supporting Studio management with programming and resourcing reviews. Your sector experience should ideally include recent healthcare and science projects.
You will run significant healthcare projects, lead clinical planning user groups through RIBA Stages 0-4, build strong relationships, work collaboratively, and provide mentorship. Our work supports creating smart, safe, and sustainable places where people live, work, learn, and thrive, impacting the quality of life in communities worldwide.
Role Accountabilities:
- Support and lead projects with responsibility for program and budget management, effective time and resource management, and promoting best practice within the Studio
- Coordinate contract documents, design and consulting teams, and follow projects through to completion including contract administration
- Work across all project phases: design development, working drawings, contract administration, and on-site services
- Manage multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination including documentation coordination with other disciplines
- Lead elements of large or complex projects or manage smaller projects independently
- Manage client relationships and team communication including project teams and budgets
- Resolve complex technical and design issues
- Conduct on-site inspections and document site reviews
- Maintain project documentation, drawings, and specifications
- Process change control requests during construction and address RFIs
- Support preparation of proposals, submissions, and presentations
- Interface with statutory authorities during design and construction phases
- Develop and promote excellent people management practices
- Contribute to business development activities of the Studio and office
- Understand and adhere to quality management, environmental management, and health & safety procedures
- Promote continuous development of appropriate systems, procedures, and protocols
Experience
- RIBA Part 3 qualified and ARB registered with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience
- Proven background in UK healthcare projects, with additional experience in science projects advantageous
- Experience working on larger projects as part of a team and providing day-to-day leadership on smaller projects
- Proficient in Revit and BIM workflows
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, design standards, and best practice
