About the Role
Shape the future of Adult Social Care in Havering by joining us as an inspiring leader driving our vision for Living and Ageing Well services. As Assistant Director, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care and safeguarding for adults across Havering. This is your opportunity to influence strategy, lead transformation, and make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for a wide range of adult social care services, ensuring compliance with statutory duties while promoting independence and wellbeing. You will collaborate closely with partners across health, housing, and the voluntary sector to deliver innovative solutions and integrated care models.

Reporting to the Directors of Living Well and Ageing Well, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, managing a £60 million budget and leading a workforce of over 130 staff. Your focus will include safeguarding, quality assurance, commissioning, and driving continuous improvement across services.

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership aligned with council priorities and statutory requirements
- Acting as principal adviser on Adult Social Care, overseeing safeguarding and quality standards
- Driving transformation and innovation in service delivery, embedding early intervention and prevention
- Managing complex budgets and resources to ensure value for money and sustainability
- Building strong partnerships with health, housing, and voluntary sector organisations
- Championing inclusion, professional excellence, and continuous improvement across all areas

Requirements

Experience
Substantial senior leadership experience in Adult Social Care, including managing large-scale services and multi-million-pound budgets.
Proven ability to lead transformation and deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
Strong strategic thinking, influencing, and partnership-building skills.

Qualifications
Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
