About the Role
Lead the future of Adult Social Care in Havering as the statutory Director of Adult Social Services (DASS). You will shape and deliver the vision for Ageing Well services, ensuring the highest standards of care and safeguarding for older adults across the borough. This senior leadership role involves driving transformation, influencing strategy, and making a lasting impact on the lives of residents.

As Director – Ageing Well, you will oversee a diverse portfolio including integrated health and social care, safeguarding, and commissioning. Working closely with partners across health, housing, and the voluntary sector, you will deliver innovative, person-centred solutions that promote independence and wellbeing.

Reporting to the Strategic Director, People, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and shaping policy aligned with national and local priorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for all Ageing Well services, ensuring alignment with council priorities and statutory requirements
- Act as the statutory Director of Adult Social Services, overseeing safeguarding and quality assurance across Adult Social Care
- Drive transformation of older people’s services, including hospital discharge pathways and integrated care models
- Lead policy development and implementation in line with the Care Act 2014, safeguarding legislation, and CQC standards
- Manage complex budgets and resources, ensuring value for money and sustainable service delivery
- Build strong partnerships with health, housing, and voluntary sector organisations to deliver joined-up services
- Champion innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility

Requirements

Experience
- Proven leadership at a senior level within Adult Social Care or a related field
- Experience managing large-scale services and multi-million-pound budgets
- In-depth knowledge of legislation, policy, and best practice in social care and safeguarding
