Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park is an Outstanding primary academy located in the heart of Tottenham, known for its unique creative curriculum, strong moral values, and a love of learning. Our academy is a multicultural, multi-faith family where children learn together, respect and value each other, and are encouraged to do their very best.
The Assistant Principal will work closely with Phase and Subject Leaders to ensure pupils experience a personalised programme tailored to their needs, identified through robust assessment. Key duties include monitoring literacy and numeracy provision through lesson observations, book scrutinies, planning audits and data analysis; maintaining up-to-date records of pupil progress for SEN, EMA, More Able and LAC pupils; leading staff development and training in literacy and numeracy; line managing staff; and ensuring effective recruitment, deployment and impact of relevant staff. The role also involves inspiring confidence in teaching and support staff, disseminating good practice, making management decisions to ensure equity and access to learning, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment in the lower school.
The Assistant Principal will participate in open evenings, curriculum events and pupil performances, share responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the academy, and keep fully appraised of national and local educational developments. Maintaining the highest professional standards and confidentiality, fostering a collaborative team culture, undertaking performance appraisals, and supporting the Principal in strategic academy improvement are also essential aspects of this role.
