About the Role
Would you like to shape the future of one of our thriving academies as a Governor? Outstanding local governance is vital to the success of Harris academies, with numerous Ofsted reports praising the role played by governors. Harris Federation governing bodies carry much of the responsibility for setting the strategic direction of our academies and monitoring all aspects of performance. We have 350 governors who shape and guide our schools, each playing a vital role in the ongoing success of our academies and students. Being a governor is a highly rewarding experience and an opportunity to gain insight into how an academy works while playing a part in improving outcomes for young people. It is a chance to make an important contribution to the local community and to develop your skills. People from all walks of life have been governors of Harris academies, reflecting the diverse communities we serve. Governors are expected to attend governing body meetings, visit their academy regularly to engage with pupils and staff, and may be asked to support panels for leadership appointments or pupil appeals. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute strategically and collaboratively to the success of our schools and students.
About Us
The Harris Federation is a leading education charity with 55 primary and secondary academies across London and Essex.
