About the Role
Balfour Beatty Power T&D is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Power Commercial Team supporting the Integrated Utilities Management Team (IUMT). In this role, you will support the effective commercial management of projects under the guidance of a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor. You will gain structured exposure to cost management, contract administration, and procurement activities, contributing to the successful delivery of projects in line with contractual, financial, and governance requirements.

Working closely with senior commercial team members, you will assist in managing subcontractors and supply chain partners, supporting utilities and infrastructure works across a major infrastructure programme. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop both technical and commercial capabilities while progressing towards professional membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB.

Key responsibilities include maintaining awareness of Balfour Beatty governance and supporting compliance with BMS and commercial procedures, assisting with cost reports, forecasts, budgets, interim valuations, payment applications, and cost value reconciliations. You will support contract administration in accordance with NEC3/NEC4 contracts, maintain accurate commercial records, monitor compliance with contractual obligations, support subcontractor procurement and payments, and help identify commercial risks and opportunities.

You will work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, procurement, and commercial colleagues, supporting senior commercial staff with day-to-day activities and actively working towards professional development and chartership.

Requirements

Experience
- Some experience within a construction or infrastructure environment
- Basic understanding of commercial and cost management principles
- Awareness of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4 desirable)
