This role supports the Service Manager in delivering services within Colorectal Surgery, ensuring high-quality medical support to patients, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include managing inpatient and outpatient departments, meeting agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, and resource constraints.

The post holder will manage teams including service delivery personnel, medical administrative staff, and others, providing organisational and administrative support to consultants or registrars as needed. Close collaboration with other managers in the directorate is essential to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.

Key duties include line management, RTT and workqueue validation, monitoring demand and capacity for inpatient and outpatient services, responding to patient concerns, conducting team meetings and appraisals, data quality monitoring, performance reporting, service improvement participation, and deputising for the Service Manager when required.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant experience in staff supervision and management including recruitment, retention, appraisal, and first-line disciplinary processes
- Knowledge of budget management
- Experience delivering administrative and clerical outpatient services
- Proven ability to manage effective service delivery, including introducing and supporting change processes
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Track record of positively influencing organisational culture and supporting innovation and service improvements
- Understanding of National cancer waiting targets and experience in RTT and PTL validation is essential

- Ability to multitask and use initiative in a busy environment
- Proactive approach to meeting targets and deadlines while ensuring smooth service operation
- IT literate with ability to navigate Trust IT systems
- Attention to detail and adaptability

Qualifications
- Educated to HNC level, equivalent diploma, or relevant experience
- GCSE Maths and English
- Demonstrated continuous professional and management development
