Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients. In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for one permanent Band 5 Assistant Service Manager working within Integrated Local Services- based at Intermediate Care Lambeth/Southwark (ICL/ICS) Main duties of the job The role is to support the Service Manager in the delivery of the service and deliver against targets in a range of service areas. The post holders will be responsible for line management of administrative staff and day-to-day operations which contribute to a quality and efficient service for patients. We are looking for a highly organised person who is able to prioritise a busy workload in a demanding environment and perform well under pressure. Working for our organisation The post holder will work closely with the Service Manager and Clinical leadership team and the role is within a multidisciplinary team and requires the ability to liaise with all disciplines of staff i.e. Senior Practitioners, OTs, PTs, Nurses and administrative colleagues. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post holder is responsible for tracking service activity through the collation of data for the service using relevant databases and clinical systems, and will provide a high standard of professional and patient focused service to a range of Trust-wide specialties' and will support the function on a day-to day operational basis. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of clinical systems, strong communication skills, attention to details and be proactive to achieve desired outcomes. Candidates must be flexible to the needs of the service, attend meetings as and when necessary and have excellent communication skills. Person specification Qualifications/ Education Essential criteria Educated to HNC/Equivalent Diploma/equivalent experience GCSE Maths & English Track record of significant continuous professional and management development Previous experience Essential criteria Significant experience of staff supervision/ staff management including recruitment/retention /appraisal /first line disciplinary and knowledge of budget management issues Have significantly contributed to meeting operational objectives Experience of delivering Administrative and Clerical Services to health teams Evidence of introducing and supporting change processes Evidence of establishing, maintaining and consolidating effective working relationships with clinicians and multi-disciplinary teams Evidence of positively influencing organisational culture Track record of supporting the management of innovation and service improvements Robust IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office and clinical system, e.g. EPIC, Excel, Word. Desirable criteria Experience of delivering services on a multi-site basis Experience of working in the community services Knowledge/Skills/ Ability Essential criteria Leadership and influencing skills Strong verbal and written skills including organising meetings and minute taking.
