About the Role

As an Associate Cost Consultant, you will play a key role in our strategy, 'Accelerating a Planet Positive Future', supporting our commitment to achieving a Net-Zero carbon footprint.
You will specialise in estimating costs for critical infrastructure projects within the Electricity Transmission sector, including overhead lines, substations, buried cables, and power tunnels. Working closely with strategic sourcing, contract management, and project teams, you will contribute to the accuracy and quality of cost plans and estimates while supporting winning bidding strategies.
Your responsibilities will include developing detailed cost plans and estimates for civil, mechanical, and electrical construction activities within high-voltage electrical projects (132kV to 400kV), providing insights to optimise project outcomes through cost-benefit analyses and risk identification, and competitively assessing bids to support informed decision-making.
Experience
- Proven experience in infrastructure cost planning and estimating within the Electrical Transmission industry, with over ten years of relevant experience.
- Deep knowledge of high-voltage electrical construction projects including overhead lines, substations, and cable systems.
- Strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, and associated costs.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Proficiency in cost planning and estimating software such as CANDY and Cost-X.
- Experience managing small to medium-sized teams of up to five resources.

Qualifications
- Professional membership with CIOB, RICS, ICE, or similar bodies.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is desirable.
- Experience in project risk assessment and contingency planning for regulated companies is advantageous.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
