St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients. In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview The role will be an integral part of delivering the complex IT Capital Portfolio, providing the associate project management resource. The Associate Project Manager will be responsible for driving continuous improvement to the capital portfolio, improving performance of project delivery, whilst managing all constraints of cost, time, scope, risk and quality. Main duties of the job The Associate Project Manager will develop multiple detailed plans for a number of projects or work streams, including the schedule, the budget, outlining the duties of each team members, identifying project goals, and setting a timeline for the project. The post holder will collaborate with various teams and hold meetings to develop project plans and present them to upper-level management before starting the project. The post holder is responsible for monitoring each project he or she manages to ensure that projects remain on track, meet deadlines, stay under budget, and develop according to plan. They will be responsible not only for identifying project objectives, but ensuring that they’re met and deal with any conflict and issues during project implementation. The Associate Project Manager will be required to deputise as necessary for Senior Project Managers and/or the Project support Officer to ensure at all times a very high level of professionalism, and delivery of projects with due regard for public accountability. Working for our organisation Within the Trust the DT&i (Data, Technology & Information) Directorate is responsible for the delivery of information systems and services to the whole organisation to support clinical and business integration. It leads in the development of IT strategy and directing all IT delivery programmes and services. DT&i provides a range of critical IT services many of which are running 24-7. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Carry out any relevant feasibility studies. Analyse complex data and prepare the information for presentation to a technical and non-technical audience. Create, plan and manage multiple projects, including liaison with key and multiple stakeholders including contractors and suppliers. Reporting on a monthly basis of project progress, status, risk, issues, dependencies, benefits and spend Manage change control and exceptions Monitor and resolves issues to ensure appropriate project governance and management is maintained e.g resourcing; finances; risks and other project related issues. Support more senior PM in complex or large project through its phases; this includes outputs such as stakeholder plans; communication plans; project charter/mandate. Raise work packages as draft for review by Senior PM and to submit to required teams to undertake work. Lead on end to end management of project phase or work stream Support Senior Project Manager i.e. project closedown; transition to service. Comply with governance and standards to meet Programmes and Projects Management (PPM) KPI’s. Develop and maintain project directories for each project. Ensure all project governance and policies are implemented, as part of the wider Project team develop policies and governance for related projects of responsibility. Deputise for the Senior Project Manager/Project Manager and Project Support Officer role when required/appropriate. Provide support for Programme Boards such as following up on Board member actions; if required by the Programme Manager. To be the lead on specialist work packages or projects and work streams Any other duties allocated by the Senior Project Managers, or the Programme Manager and support required by the Head of Programmes. Person specification Qualifications/Education Essential criteria Prince2 Foundation certification Relevant knowledge, skills and experience within the Project Management or related field.
