About the Role
We are excited to be hiring a Behaviour Support Worker to join our fantastic Children’s Crisis Service team. This role offers the opportunity to build your knowledge, experience and skills in supporting children and young people aged 4-18 years with autism, learning disabilities and behaviours of concern. You will work closely with the children, young people and their families to prevent family or placement breakdown.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will assess children's behavioural functions and identify appropriate strategies and environmental changes to reduce behaviours of concern. This includes identifying ongoing or long-term support needs.

You will visit family homes and school settings (when appropriate) to make observations and provide hands-on support. You will also be on call to respond to crisis situations across the county. Our work is underpinned by the positive behaviour support framework and an understanding that all behaviours are a form of communication.

We offer a supportive environment with coaching in positive behaviour support and ongoing training to meet the requirements of the role.

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation in April 2027, and your role will transfer with current terms and conditions to one of the new organisations, supporting local devolution and improved services for the community.

Option to buy up to 10 days of additional annual leave

Up to 5 days of carer's leave and 2 paid volunteering days per year
