About the Role
We are recruiting a Family Support Worker to join our dynamic team at Surrey Emergency Duty Service (EDT), part of the CSPA service. This role offers the opportunity to support children and families in crisis, working within a culture of partnership that encourages families to develop their own solutions while receiving professional help.
The Emergency Duty Team operates out of office hours from 5pm to 9am Monday to Friday, and provides a 24-hour service at weekends and bank holidays, including Christmas. The team responds to critical situations related to children's safeguarding (Section 47), potential placements, family breakdowns, and other emergency children's services work.
This fast-paced, outcome-focused role requires working under pressure and multitasking confidently across various IT systems. Responsibilities include receiving incoming calls and emails, distributing tasks to appropriate staff, and undertaking visits to family homes, police stations, hospitals, and other locations to support children, young people, and families in crisis.
The nature of some calls and correspondence can be sensitive and challenging, involving abuse, neglect, or individuals at risk. Robust personal resilience is essential. You will receive a comprehensive induction, regular supervision, and support from the Duty Manager within a cohesive team environment. While working as part of a team, you will also be expected to work independently to deliver high-quality work.
