About the Role
The Enabling Independence Team (EIT) is a dynamic, county-wide service supporting adults with mental health and/or substance misuse needs to regain control of their lives. We deliver short-term, strengths-based support that empowers people to live independently, connect with their communities, and build lasting resilience.

As an Enabling Independence Teamworker, you will deliver short-term strengths-based interventions that promote recovery, independence, and social inclusion. Working closely with individuals, carers, and professionals, you will support people to build life skills, confidence, and community connections. You will provide tailored, person-centred support to help individuals achieve their goals, promoting independence through practical interventions and enablement strategies.

An average day will involve attending home visits to meet service users in their homes and support them to achieve their identified goals. This could include assisting with public transport, shopping, accessing community activities, and budget management. The role requires driving within the area covered to attend visits. Verbal and written communication with various agencies is essential to support people in accessing wider community services, including statutory and voluntary sector organisations. You will be expected to write daily notes for each person visited using Surrey systems (training provided) and manage your own diary.

We offer 26 days’ holiday, rising to 28 days after 2 years’ service and 31 days after 5 years’ service (pro rata for part-time hours) plus bank holidays, with the option to buy up to 10 additional days. Benefits include a generous local government pension, up to 5 days of carer’s leave, 2 paid volunteering days per year, paternity, adoption and dependents leave, an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), access to a learning and development hub, and wellbeing and lifestyle discounts including gym, travel, and shopping.

This role offers a chance to make a real difference to the lives of Surrey residents.
