About the Role
An exciting opportunity to join the Brent School Attendance Service as the lead officer for Elective Home Education, Child Employment, and Performance Licensing has arisen. Brent is a vibrant London borough with a diverse community spanning inner and outer London, known for its cultural richness and contrasts.

The Brent School Attendance Service works in partnership with families and schools to improve attendance and engagement with education, offering advice and guidance, referring children and families for specialist support, and fulfilling statutory duties related to education law.

This role requires energy, enthusiasm, and an excellent understanding of why parents choose to home educate. You will engage with families to assess the suitability of education provided, lead on Elective Home Education and Child Employment & Performance Licences, and provide high quality advice and guidance to parents, professionals, and schools. Maintaining high standards of casework and record keeping is essential.

The officer will act when a child is not receiving a suitable education and initiate proceedings where parents are in breach of school attendance orders under section 443 of the Education Act 1996.

Requirements

Experience
Strong background in education welfare or social care is essential. Experience working with Elective Home Education and Child Employment licensing regulations is required.

Qualifications
