About the Role
The Building Safety Levy Collection Officer plays a key role in ensuring the London Borough of Bexley meets its obligations under the Building Safety Levy and contributes to the wider goals of improving building safety to help keep residents safe. The postholder will support continuous improvement through feedback, collaboration, and process refinement.

The role involves administering Building Safety Levy processes in line with the Building Safety (England) Regulations 2025, including determining levy chargeability and liability, issuing levy determination notices, arranging spot checks, receiving payments and issuing payment certificates, handling requests for reviews from developers, and managing Quarterly Management Information and revenue transfer to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

This position requires collaboration with internal teams such as Finance, Planning, and Building Control, as well as external stakeholders including the Building Safety Regulator, Registered Building Control Approvers, and developers, ensuring clear communication in accordance with Local Authority procedures.

The role contributes to timely and accurate levy collection in compliance with relevant regulations and financial protocols.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience in administrative roles, preferably within a local authority or public sector setting, although this is not essential.
- Familiarity with financial processes such as invoicing, payment tracking, and reconciliation.
- Understanding of planning or building control procedures and regulatory frameworks.
- Awareness of data protection and confidentiality standards.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, including working with internal departments and external partners.
