About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. This role supports the Ministry of Justice’s initiative to deliver four new prisons as part of a broader programme creating 13,000 modern prison places across England. Delivered through an alliance model involving Mace, designers, and major UK contractors, the project promotes collaborative working to drive efficiency, cost savings, and enhanced value for the MoJ.
As Commercial Consultancy Manager, you will integrate with the wider programme delivery team, providing expert contract administration and commercial support. You will assist Project Managers in managing NEC4 contracts, oversee CEMAR compliance, and offer strategic advice to ensure contractual obligations are met.
Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining strong working relationships with contractors and client teams, monitoring contractor performance, supporting interim payment certification processes, administering contract changes, managing CEMAR workflows, contributing to benchmarking and monthly performance reporting, participating in commercial meetings, reviewing early warnings and compensation events, preparing recommendations for compensation events and client changing board submissions, conducting site visits, attending contractor progress meetings, engaging in client meetings to review proposed changes and entitlements, and providing commercial support and cost-effective solutions to internal teams and clients.
Experience
Demonstrated success in commercial management within the construction sector. Previous experience working on large schemes, delivering multiple packages of work from design through to completion. Strong contractual knowledge of NEC, confident communicator, and collaborative team player.

Qualifications
A degree in a relevant construction-related qualification. Construction background, ideally in commercial management.
