About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Working in alliance with the Ministry of Justice, Mace, Designer and Main Contractors are delivering pre-construction and main works stages for four new prisons alongside extensions and refurbishments to existing prisons across England. This programme aims to deliver 20,000 modern and efficient prison places to meet future capacity demands. The Contractors Alliance promotes collaboration among four major UK contractors to improve efficiency, cost savings and deliver enhanced value to the Ministry of Justice through aligned interests and shared working practices.

As Commercial Manager, you will integrate with wider programme delivery teams contributing to commercial, procurement, preconstruction and delivery stage activities. Your responsibilities will include managing and building relationships with suppliers, monitoring and reporting their performance and compliance, preparing interim payment recommendations and payment certificates, and providing post-contract award commercial services for goods and services up to final account.

You will maintain financial impact assessments for instructed changes, negotiate compensation events with suppliers, and ensure project data consistency and accuracy. Supporting cost and expenditure planning, cost management, trending, estimating and forecasting will be key, alongside analysing cost performance data for monthly reports. You will manage budget and spend profiles, identify cost performance improvements, and assess the impact of inflation, currencies and exchange rates on forecasting.

Additionally, you will carry out cost impact analysis of proposed scope or schedule changes and assist Project Managers in preparing cost reports and analyses based on work breakdown structures, identifying learning opportunities and efficiency recommendations.
