St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients. In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research. We have a reputation for clinical excellence and high quality teaching and research. We are part of King’s Health Partners, one of eight accredited UK academic health sciences centres. In partnership with King’s College London we have dedicated clinical research facilities including an MHRA accredited Phase I clinical trials unit. We have one of the most ambitious capital investment programmes anywhere in the NHS. Job overview The post holder will support the Network Director to deliver the core functions of the network. They will oversee the day to day operations of the network, managing risk and escalating where necessary to ensure operational resilience and the achievement of a number of transformational and quality improvement initiatives. The post holder will be responsible for the effective delivery of assigned projects within the Network. They will contribute to strategic programme planning, project start-up, plans, controls and delivery. They will promote an understanding the of the Network’s key objectives and be responsible for the full project life cycle and project budget (where applicable) for the duration of the time they are allocated to a given project. They may be allocated to more than one project at a time. They will work collaboratively across the entire network team, providing expert leadership and support to the professional leads to ensure delivery of network objectives are achieved in a coordinated and efficient manner. The post holder will have line management responsibility for a number of key network staff and work closely with the Lead Nurse. The post holder will deputise for the Network Director when necessary which may include representation a local ICS and regional meetings. Networks coordinate care across multiple pathways and geographies to ensure access to high quality specialist services. The London Neonatal Critical Care Network is a disease specific organisation, mandated in 2014 by NHS England to improve outcomes for neonates in London. London has the highest birth rate nationally and one of the most diverse and complex population groups in the U.K. These challenges present an opportunity to support organisations, clinicians and parents by providing access to specialist resources and expertise, coordinating patient pathways and developing evidence-based guidance to standardise practice. The network works closely with NHS England and Improvement and brings together specialist neonatal providers and healthcare professionals, Neonatal Service Users and their families to operationalise national policy across complex pathways of care to improve patient care and experience, and help shape future services in the capital.
