About the Role
At Network Rail, we keep Britain moving by maintaining and operating a safe, reliable railway for passengers and freight users. The Southern Region is one of the busiest and most complex parts of the railway, supporting millions of journeys daily across integrated track and train operations. As part of the Governance, Risk, Assurance & Improvement (GRAI) team, the Enterprise Risk Account Manager plays a critical role in enabling the Southern Region to deliver its operational, financial, and strategic objectives.

This role provides expert leadership and assurance on the identification, assessment, management, and escalation of enterprise and operational risks that could impact Network Rail’s performance, sustainability, and reputation. Working collaboratively with Integrated Business Units (IBU), regional leaders, functional heads, and national risk teams, you will embed a consistent, proactive, and value-adding risk management approach.

You will support informed decision-making by providing clear insight into emerging threats, opportunities, and control effectiveness, ensuring alignment with Network Rail’s Safety Vision, business planning, and governance framework. The role is key to strengthening risk maturity, promoting a positive risk culture, and ensuring risks are effectively articulated, monitored, and escalated to governance forums.

Key responsibilities include delivering specialist advice on risk identification and management, providing training on the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, facilitating risk workshops, supporting continuous improvement projects, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. You will also collaborate with assurance teams to develop an integrated Risk and Assurance service for the Southern Rail system.

Network Rail offers generous annual leave plus statutory days with options to buy or sell additional leave, a defined benefit pension scheme, travel benefits including subsidised rail and underground season tickets, health and wellbeing support, enhanced family policies, and flexible working arrangements.
